The Storyteller’s Book Store is designed to be a place for people of all well-intentioned points of view to gather. Open since July 2008, we plan to present storytelling performances, readings by authors local and afar and workshops for writers and storytellers. We offer a diverse inventory that includes books for all readers.

Drew Bridges, owner of the store and a semi-retired psychiatrist, opened the store in the heart of Wake Forest to return to his English major roots. The Storyteller’s Book Store is designed with open areas for activities and is furnished with a grand piano and a red leather antique barber chair, the “storyteller’s chair.” Paintings and photography from local artists adorn the walls and are for sale as well.

Providing Resources for our Literary Community

Our mission at the Storyteller’s Book Store is to provide literary community resources for Wake Forest that includes community activities such as lectures, author readings, storytelling events, art activities, children’s readings and other types of community events.

We have added a series of books on adolescent mental health that was created by The Annenberg Foundation Trust. These publications address depression, eating disorders, substance abuse and other issues adolescents may have. Visit http://www.sunnylands.org and click on the link to the Adolescent Mental Health Initiative for more information.

And that's a fraction of the community resources and events we provide. Visit our Events to find out more information on upcoming events.

If you can't stop in the store, we can always special order items. Please call 919-556-3903 to special order the book you are looking for.
