The authors of the Spiderwick series would have you believe that they are merely reporting about a true adventure. 

Trolls and elves and goblins inhabit the world if you can just see and believe!  It begins with a family moving into the requisite creaky, old house, and three siblings who discover a hand-written book in an antique trunk that tells of other worldly creatures. The Spiderwick Chronicles movie was a compilation of all five books in the Spiderwick series: The Field Guide, The Seeing Stone, Lucinda’s Secret, The Ironwood Tree, and The Wrath of Mulgrath. Children, ages 9 – 12, are as enthralled with the tales and detailed drawings in the slim novels as they were with the film.
